I've had a couple of freebies over the years - two Standardbred mares & a crossbred gelding!
My first horse was one - Bailey. She was four, green broke and I was a 16yo who only knew the basics of horse care... had been riding since 11 but not taught the "behind the scenes" as much as I thought - was a difficult start to horse ownership, but I owned her for 7 years and she taught me a lot - mostly what not to do!

My other was a beautiful mare, April who was left in a paddock by her owner & neglected. I looked after her and the property owner gifted her to me when they left the city. She was with me up until 2007 when I sold her as she had developed arthritis and I wanted her to slow down in work and teach someone else what she had me since she deserved it. She was put to sleep 1.5yrs ago and I miss her every day. She was super special, and still one of my most favourite horses.

My gelding JD was 3/4 TB, 1/4 Cleveland Bay. I don't have any photos of him sadly. I had him for two months, but we didn't click well under saddle and so he was rehomed with a lovely family.

Well I've never actually gotten a "free" horse (I WISH!!), but I just thought I'd say that all the horses on here are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It just goes to show that spending more money on a horse doesn't make it any better!:)

My Gracie was a freebie. A friend from work had a pair of QH's she bred three times. She made the decision to geld her stud and a few months later realized that he managed to get to Bandita one more time. When I decided to take Gracie [spur of the moment, stupid "I want a baby horsey" moment...] she just gave her to me. She was 7 months old and now she just turned 4. She's been a lot of fun, a huge learning experience, and I want to keep this horse her whole life.

Hunter was a freebie 3 years ago. The owner had gotten him at auction for $40. She was giving him away (although he need to be gelded and have hernia surgery). He came to me a scrawny little bot who has grown up to be my beautiful palomino.

This was when I first got him

This was in July

Dakota & Scout were given to me by a co-worker that couldn't afford to keep them anymore. They have a few issues to work on, mostly feet, but are wonderfully broke.

Tequila's dam was my freebie. I don't have any pictures of her, but Tequila is my mom's favorite horse to trail ride on.

Hey guys, some beautiful horses here! My freebie is Jiguma aka jigs! she was given to me from the riding school I worked for, when the owners of the riding school retired and closed down they gave each of us girls were given a horse to say thank you! Jigy was my lead pony so it was a given she come with me! The rest of the 40 horses each went to loving homes for free to people they knew would love them. They have such great karma. :)

Sadly, don't think I have any pictures of my freebie but SOON he will have a horse profile on my page and hopefully a picture! Anyways, he's a little Dun mini pony. He was bred SUPER DUPER well, and I guess was supposed to be showed??? I'm not positive his show name, but I have his papers somewhere around this house. It was Cody Feather something? Does that ring a bell for anyone? Anyways, we call him Rocky <3 Got him from a girl. They were super close together and he was even in her wedding! Sadly, her daughter passed away and they wanted to have a big funeral, so big they wouldn't have enough money to keep him. We came and loaded him, and now he's ours! Best mini I ever seen or owned. AWESOME! Lets me pick up all his feet, mess with him, he's so awesome. I can hug on him and lead him around. Great with kids to. And I've taught him jumping. I want to try showing him. Wish me luck! Freebies truly ARE the best!!!
