My gelding likes to lick hair, and mouth my hands. He doesn't bite (he learned hs lesson long ago) but he kinda flaps his lips around my hand/arm/available body part and then gently rubs his teeth against the skin, and likes to make it squeak. He is very respectful, and it actually feels like he is massaging me so I let him do it.

Two horses at the barn, Keanu and Colors, will lick you if you get too close. I guess they know not to bite, or they'll be dead. So it's licking.

my gelding licks as part of a mutual grooming thing. If you give him a good brushing, or scratch his itchy spots he repays you with 'grooming' you, by licking up and down your arms.

My horse licks, he's not lacking minerals because he has his own mineral block. It's just a part of him, he'll lick anybody. Only bad part is he'll sneak in a bite on men, not women just men.
