So, I thought I might talk to my grandparents (I live wit my parents but my horse lives next door at my grandparents' house) about getting a microchip for my horse, Pistol. However I have a few questions.
First off, how is the microchip put in, or whatever? And why form is it in? When I think of a microchip I think of a little mechanical chip that is somehow put in the animal. Am I right or wrong? What form is the chip in? And how much does one cost?

I haven't a clue as to how much it costs in the US, you could call your vet to ask.

It is inserted into the crest of the neck with a gun type syringe. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice.
