Moving Zeus on Friday!

Yay! I'm so excited to be moving and while there are some people at my current barn who I'll miss, I'm overall very happy to be getting out of there! Ha ha. I won't have to stress about whether he's being given his supplements, if he has water, or if he's alright in general. I'm on partial board and am having to drive out every day to clean his stall. They won't even fill up the water buckets for you if you're on partial. So I'm always worrying when I can't get out there until late. He's always okay but I'm just tired of stressing.

The barn manager is the only thing that kept me there for so long, she's amazing. But two people were recently hired to live on property and do all the turning in and out and all the care on weekends are not so great. And they knew NOTHING about horses when they first came, not even how to out on a halter. What if my horse was injured or colicking or something? They wouldn't know the signs, or what to do! That just makes me SO nervous. I've also seen the man (don't know his name) jerk a horse around who I KNOW doesn't need to be handled that way. I used to work there, I know the troublemakers. Anyway.

We're moving Zu to a friend's private barn. The barn is awesome, the people are AMAZING, they have great pastures a dressage ring and a jump field. Zeus will be treated like on of their own horses and I won't have to worry about him so much. Seriously I'm stressed out all day until I can go see him at our current barn. I hate it. AND, on top of all that, the daughter shows, does dressage, has a great jump trainer, and uses the same dressage coach that I do. So I could probably tag along to shows. Yay!

Oh I've rambled on for long enough I think.
Excited!

Wow, interesting facility you are currently at. I hope your move will be benefitial and positive for the both of you.

While Private Barns didn't work out for me at all, I sincerely do hope this one works for you.

All the best!

Ugh, I know. The barn was fine until they fired me and hired these two other people.
Their decision was one bases solely on being able to pay the two new people less since they gave them somewhere to live. But hiring people who knew/know nothing about horses?! That just seems plain stupid to me. So I gave my thirty days at the beginning of this month and am out of here on the 30th.

I like the facility, the trainers, the atmosphere, but I can't keep him somewhere without knowledgeable horse people on the property. Luckily I can still take dressage lessons from my trainer at the private barn. And the owners are already treating me like one of their kids. Seems it'll be great!

Just be careful though. Politics, gossip and backstabbing at smaller barns, can unsuspectingly be worse than what you would encounter at a larger barn.

Being the only boarder will cut back on that gossipy crap alot. I have been at 2 private facilities and the first one didnt really work out but the one i am at now is amazing! i love it! well all get along and go on rides together and help trailer each other around, its a great place. I hope this works out for you and your Zu!

Sounds like a great move! I can imagine you'll be less stressed and worried about Zeus. It's so hard to keep from worrying, but atleast now you'll know that he'll be in a better enviornment.

Moved him! Everything went smoothly and Zeus was wonderful, as expected. The owners are super excited to have him there, I'm happy and stress free, and Zeus acted like he hadn't just moved barns. He just didn't care, ha ha. He was curious, but completely unconcerned.

Going out tomorrow morning to ride!
