I took Sadie out and longed her a little today and we did some ground work. She was SO good. I couldn't be happier about my decision to bring her home.
We had a bit of a stressful time when I put her out in the paddock. I put the other 3 mares in the adjoining paddock so they could sniff and squeal at each other over the fence. My Percheron (2 year old) decided she was NOT going to be the low man on the totem pole anymore. Started charging the fence, and ran along side of it bucking. She got her hind leg stuck in it and tore down 3 of the 4 rows of fencing (it's poly wire tape fencing.) Funny horses continued to squeal and sniff, but no one would pass the fence posts, even though there was practically no fence. SO I sent the DH out to fix it, longe whip in hand. After it was fixed, there were a few more mare moments. Willow the Percheron gets pushed around by everyone else, and I thought she'd be the best with the new girl. BOY WAS I WRONG! She was the biggest problem!
Sadie also went into heat. Probably because she's never been around stallions and there are 2 on the property now. She's infatuated with Jager, the Shire stallion. She was watching him and flagging all day... It was kind of cute.
