Angry My new pet peeve with horse shopping....

So when looking at horse for sale ads without photos, you often will have to email the seller, asking to see photos or video of their horse they have for sale. Of course, it's usually extra money to post a photo, so I don't mind exchanging emails to see photos of the horse. And they will often say right in the description to just email them and they will do so.

I hate it when they email me back and say, oh just look at my Facebook page.

1) I can't see anything on your Facebook page because you are not my "friend" on Facebook.
2) I do not want to make anyone my "friend" on Facebook unless I know you personally and you are really my friend in real life.
3) The photos are never put in an easy place to find. They are usually somewhere posted 2 months ago on their wall.

Is it so danged hard to just email me pictures of the horse I want to see? And if you are going to refer me to your Facebook profile, it had better be "public" and the photos should be clearly labeled by the horse's name in the Photos. Not scattered on your "wall".

I just keep getting this rif-raf from sellers and I am really getting annoyed by it.

Vent.

Means they are not that serious about selling the horse then. If they are that haphazard about dealing with interested buyers, how haphazard are they with the horse's care, training, etc. Kinda gives you incite right there, don't it?

It's not just with horses, it annoys me anytime someone links something to Facebook and half time you can't even access it, and if you can you have to search everywhere. I hate Facebook.

My pet peeve: I get annoyed at poor quality photos. How hard is it to take a side on photo that actually shows you the horses "normal" shape, instead of constantly ones with the horse looking at you making their head seem freakishly big? Even if the horse is cheap, these days its so easy to just take a picture and upload it.

I also get annoyed when I call sellers and they seem distracted, or whatever. I always ask if its a good time but when I ask them questions they don't seem to care. You'd think if the person on the other end of the phone might be giving you $1000+ you'd at least pretend to care for 15 minutes.

Also people who NEVER answer phones.

I think that's the difference between a serious seller who is interested in finding a good home for their beloved horse and a person who doesn't care a lot about their animal and so have posted an ad in a half-hearted attempt to get some quick cash without too much effort.

Leasing a spoiled rotten trail horse...pretty - but a brat!

Facebook bugs me in general. People spend too much time on it and act like it's a vital part of life. I'm in the camp of people who don't want you as a FB friend unless we are friends for real. I use it to keep in touch with family and friends out of state. I do not want to navigate some strangers page to try and find pictures of a horse they have for sale. I agree that people like that just aren't serious sellers and I wouldn't buy from them.

Better than asking for better pictures then being told if I was serious I would just come look. The horses wasn't in my state and all her pictures were under saddle

there are lots of window shoppers in the horse world. Look at it from the sellers point of view. Alot of people waste their time with endless questions and requests. That really cant be answered unless you come out and ride the horse. While I would expect a couple decent pictures and a basic description the rest you pretty much have to look at in person.

As a seller I don't mind answering questions, it doesn't take long to email someone back or take a few new pics, video. Doesn't bother me, I want it sold. And as a buyer, I want to make sure it's worth spending the gas money to go see a horse beforehand.

To vote on American Idol now you even have to login to FB. Are you F-ing kidding me? I HATE FB.

OP, I suggest when you first email someone about a prospective horse. Ask them to email pictures and explain that you've been having people try to tell you to go to their FB page and you do not have a FB so you aren't able to see pictures.

If someone is telling you to go to the FB page, I'd look elsewhere. If the seller can't take 5 minutes to write a email and attach pictures, there's no use in you giving them your money.
