Need to vent!

I am totally new to the forums, but I thought fellow horse people would understand my frustration!

I am training a BLM Mustang for the Mustang Millions event in September and have to pull my horse due to an illness in the family.

It sounds terrible, but I am so bummed. I am so excited about how far I have come with this guy and I truly think we would have had a shot at the top 5. In my rational, sound, mind - family always comes first and there will be other competitions.

I guess I just see it as a craptastic situation all the way around and it sucks to have come so close only to have to pull out from competition.

On the upside, the family situation has the hope of getting better with time...

*sigh*

Anyone feel like passing me a margarita? :P

I'm sorry to hear that! Is there a chance you can try to do it again?
I've just had to pull my mare, out of what would have been her first show season, I understand where you're coming from

Thank you for feeding us years of lies. Thank you for the wars you left us to fight. Thank you for the world you ruined overnight. But we'll be fine, yeah we'll be fine.

Oh, I am sure there will be more events! I was just excited because it was going to be my first competition with a BLM Mustang.

I will get over it, I just needed to vent somewhere that wasn't family or non-horse people friends... it is the sort of thing that I feel only another horse person can really understand!

Sorry to hear about your mare, that sucks. We can have imaginary internet margaritas together? Feel better? Haha.

Bummer. But sometimes stuff happens to change our course. I hope things get better for you.

About the horse you have...was he to be sold/auctioned after the competition or can you keep him and go through the adoption process? Or will he go to another handler to finish training.

How terrible, I am sorry. But you will get another chance.

Which horse were you assigned?

I got to choose the horse I worked with for the Mustang Millions, unlike the normal foundation's Mustang Makeover competition, and there is no official sale after the event...although it is common for them to be sold at the competition or shortly thereafter.

He is not eligible for competition in Mustang Heritage Foundation events, but I do plan on finishing him and then selling him in the next 2 months. He is already close to being finished, but an extra 30 days on trail could only make him better.

I can completely understand what you're feeling. Just remember that there will be other competitions.

This is what happens when you have democrats in office

Sucks how things in your life can clash sometimes (IE-horses and family).

Just gives you a bit more tune-up time. (:
