Talking New Horse!

So last night my father and I went and picked up a suspected abused QH gelding; Rescue #5! He is SOOOO skittish and afraid that every person there is going to beat the living crap out of him. As soon as he got to our place he calmed down almost immediately from this high strung borderline insane 3yo to this mellow little horse. On the way to pick him up i kept wondering how in the world we were gonna get this crazy horse in the trailer but i was soooo surprised on how he just walked in. After that I let him try his first treat EVER , needless to say he loved it! Getting out of the trailer was when I was getting nervous, because of the VERY squeaky divider, but he handeled it like a pro. I can tell he tries soooo hard to be a great horse but it seems to me, with experience from my other horses, that he was being abused. Another thing that bothers me is that the guy who was training him only rode him at a lope/canter. The guy has never ridden him at anything but that. Grrrr but you cant change the horses past; only the future, and this horse has a very bright one. I cant wait to see what this gelding has in store for the future.
