New pony...name?

Long story short, my sisters last pony didnt work out and she was crushed, so I made it a personal mission to find a new one. About a thousand ads and "What about this guy?" texts, I wasnt getting anywhere. So I took things into my own hands and picked a seemingly good horse out from CL, made the appointment and dragged my sister out to see him one day after work.

I told her he was a Peruvian Paso and she had no idea what that meant...so I described him as a "silly moving horse from Peru."

There were two geldings for sale by a very nice young lady who needed money for vet bills. It was a tough choice because they were both really nice, but my sister decided on the dun. The owner said he had been abused and was a bit nervous around new people. She was surprised that he took to my sister just fine.

We needed a trail mount and he was specifically trails, no arenas. The girl said he was abused in an arena and it never left him. We only want to trail ride so it fit.

We brought him home and he settled right in. Of course when the girl said not to put him in the arena, that's the first thing I was curious about. After about 15 seconds, he calmed down and has been a great little horse in the arena with my sister and me. We will be taking our first trail sometime this week. So far he's had 3 rides in the arena and has done wonderfully. My sisters in love all over again, which was my goal.

However, she is finding it hard to name him. We've been over a ton of different names but she's not satisfied with any of them. She wants to name him something Peru-esque and has been doing a lot if research on the language, but asking for suggestions wouldn't hurt!

He's a sweet pony...and loves to lick everything. He's very active with his mouth and just licks an licks and licks. He plays with the bit a lot so I've suggested a roller of some sort for him.

I will post pictures in my second post since I'm doing this from my phone.

Oh what a sweet little thing! Some Peru-related name ideas...
Lima

Andes
Bullion
Callao
Cuzco
Loreto
Pasco
Piura
Tacna

That's all I can find right now.

Haha omg my sister mentioned Machu Picchu too! Doesn't it means "sweet potato"? She STILL hasn't decided in a name (I will be showing her this list, I've just been waiting for more participants) but in light of the Machu Picchu suggestion, I've been calling him "Tater" lmao

She'd like a name from the language but any name suggestion is open! You never know when the right one will come along!

Machu Picchu is a landmark in Peru, not a sweet potato ;) An ancient civilisation in the mountains, built by the Incas. I loved the names Inca and Amazon from Misty'sGirl!

I just spoke wit my sister and she corrected me before I could read your correction. Haha "apichu" is sweet potato. "Picchu" just looked familiar!

I like Inca too. I think it's a really cool name :)

Personally, I like "our little Paso friend" still, lol.

But, I guess I can pick a normal name too, lol. I'm going to second Callao from Misty'sGirl's post.
