Cobby- you see that he is lame? He wasn't when I looked at him last year but who's to say he wasn't buted then too. The vet said he looks it but not 100% sure as she'd have to see him in person.

Well he surely isnt sound to my eye. But I am certainly not a vet and that is just my humble opinion on this situation that you asked for. I feel if anyone is handing over hard earned money for a horse, why even take it any further if you have doubts already? If you get your vet out to check him over, then that will cost you some of your budget for another sound horse won't it?

At least start out with the assumption you have found a sound horse, pointless going any further if there is already a huge question mark IMO.

I am sorry to sound so negative, but I have seen this so many times, someone falls in love with a horse and doesnt even acknowledge the alarm bells when they hear them!

Oh no, I am not in love with him by any means. Just looking for opinions and information. I'm terrible at picking out a lame horse unless they're gimping around but I can tell this horse is short striding and looks stiff.

a video from a year ago wouldn't be a good indicator as to the horse's current soundness. lots can happen in a year!
