If she was could be the teeth or she could actually be choked. Poor girl. Those pictures made me cry. I sure hope the sheriff came. Hopefully they can do something for her! Does she eat at all? She, to me, is about as bad as they get before they stop trying. In her condition, shes not long for this world.

She grazes some on whatever is there but mostly paces the fence all day. It has been in the low 100's and she doesn't seem to sweat much even with all of the pacing. She just seems off mentally to me too the more I go around her. I go over to the fence several times a day to give her scratches and love. I really wish I could take her but my husband said absolutely not :( He doesn't tell me no often so I know he is firm on that.

Call the Sheriff and ask for an update and if they haven't gone out there yet, keep calling them until they do.

Unless it weighs a ton... it's just a horse. Draft horse motto.

Keep calling. There is no excuse for her to look that much worse that I can think of. That mare needs proper care or to be put down. Poor thing.

What a pity... she looks so much worse than in the first pics, she looks as though the only thing that will bring her back is a long stretch of vet care... I don't know what I'd do in your spot other than what you have already done.. I hope the sherriff does something.. I would have a very hard time being friendly neighbors after this... give the sheriff another call... anything to get this girl help.. hell, give me his number and the address where that poor girl is and I'll call !! enough people calling and maybe something will happen,,,

Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear, or a fool from any direction.!!!

If you are friends with this neighbor why not go over there with the two photos and show the neighbor how much worse she looks.

They see her all the time and they might just think she looks no better, not worse.

You might also mention that pacing the fence line all day burns tons of calories that this girl can not afford to burn.

Any update? Did you follow on with the sherrif?
Maybe ask the owners can you help bring her back to health with them

To give a horse your heart guarantees a love that will last forever undamageable

Nothing more to report really. I called and they said they have had a couple of other reports and that they were looking into it. I don't want to get to involved because I do still have to live next to these people and I have already distanced myself in that I don't ever ride with them or go to playdays with them (we don't have the same theories in horses).

My husband and I sat down and talked last night and we are going through some big life changes atm. He is changing careers and even though he is working a second job when he makes the jump he will be losing about 20,000 a year. We went through our budget last night and it looks like we are going to have to sell our horses and trailer to pay off some debt so that we can pay other bills. So I really can not do much to help this poor girl out. It has been an awful day spent crying about selling my babies, my uncle had a heart attack this morning and my mom has bone cancer and may have a stress fracture in her hip and can't have radiation. Then throw in I have to see that mare wasting away ( who is soooo sweet) and it makes for a really craptastic day.
