Exclamation Please help! I am having a meltdown! So Nervous!

Ok well I have my first show of the season tomorrow and I am honestly freaking out! I am so nervous! I am so unprepared because the weather has been bad and haven't been able to ride as much as I would like.

So I was just wondering if anyone has any tips/ideas how to CALM DOWN!

Breathe. Deep breaths. Close your eyes. Just....chill. Remind yourself that if you're nervous and freaking out, you'll negatively affect your riding and your horse. Some people find it easier to ride in a show if they pretend they're their favorite trainer or famous rider. Visualize your classes and even your morning wake up and trailing loading and hauling going flawlessly. If you don't get a ribbon, don't beat yourself up. It's just one persons opinion on one certain day. Smile and act confident in your classes, fake it till you make it!
Good luck!

Take a deep cleansing breath right now and relax. Don't go there trying to win a ribbon but rather view it as taking an opportunity to give you and your horse some experience -- think of the improvements you've yet to make with your horse and how you can use the show to help achieve them.

Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Think of it this way. If the weather has prevented you from practicing, it's prevented most everybody else too so you're all in the same boat.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

Well, when I was a new graduate of nursing school and was working in a busy ER, we had to become certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
So, in order to help calm my nerves for the practical tests, I would imagine myself running a code, thinking everything through so that I
knew what I was supposed to do during any crisis.

Now, I recommend that you close your eyes, focus on how well you sit, handle your horse, and be prepared for a fun day. Remember your rules and proper etiquette, so that even if you don't win first place, other people will remember you for doing the right thing at a show. Good manners always get you noticed.!!
