Putting on a horse show, need ideas :)
Okay, so I am going to put on a fun horse show for the students who are involved in the horse program at the school I work at. Now, these are all going to be IN HAND classes, as the school's current two horses are yearlings, and my girl is by no means ready for beginners. We 'may' be getting a couple of more horses donated in the next few weeks, that are going to be rideable, but I don't think I will change the format for this particular show.
So, for this show, I so far have three classes
*Showmanship (in which all grades can participate)
*Longe Line class and
*Trail Class (in hand, of course), and these two classes will be for 5th grade and up.
I would LOVE to have more ideas of simple classes in which even my two short shots (1st graders!) could participate safely. I'm leaning toward a gunny sack race, as our school horses are pretty much unflappable, but would love other ideas!
I've thought about having them do a costume class as teams, as well.
