I don't think that this issue will stop when she goes elsewhere.

I think its probably mix of being lazy, aids not being enforced and a little barn sour.

I think that it wouldn't be too difficult to fix but from the way you word your post that you won't have the skill and consistency to fix this, and even if she is retrained, and if you let this horse get away with bad behaviour she'll just revert back.

You're probably better off looking for something else.

Now a little off-topic, but I would really avoid keeping a horse alone. When Rosie was in a private paddock (but could see others) her personality was very different. She was a lot more skittish, active and aggressive than she had been when I bought her and when I kept her in a herd. Now that she is back with a herd, she's so much better. I've seen other horses change like this too. So I guess I am just saying be aware of this.

If you are looking for a trail horse, pass this one by. If she won't ride away from the barn for her owner, how do you expect her to go down the trail unless you invest time and money. Even after training she may not be what you want her to be. This time of year there are tons of horses for sale, I'd keep looking :)

We grow too soon old, and too late smart.

I am going to keep looking I think it is the best decision I can make for her and me. Thank you all for your comments! It is surprising how these forums work to help someone make this big of a decision. Thank You All
