my old guy is the opposite. he will pee and poop outside. he likes to hang out in his stall (attached paddock), unless it's raining. Then his stall is neatly used.. poop in one corner, pee only if he really doesnt want to go out in the mud.

Lol, sorry I couldn't resist. Just saw this sign in a bathroom at....wally world of course. It says: "Pee happens"!!

As per others have already said - they hate splashing their legs so will always seek out the most absorbent spots to pee on.
