Rain rain go AWAY!

Anyone else have the bad weather blues? I swear since we moved to Ohio, every year the weather has gotten worse and worse. If its not raining on one of my two days off its super wet and muddy from raining the day before!!!!

I'm so tired of it!

It really has me thinking of getting out of horses because they're such a big commitment to have when I can't even enjoy them. I've tried changing my work schedule, working less..nothing seems to help. I'm either completely unmotivated because I know the trails will be a disgusting muddy mess or because I don't want to drive over an hour just to ride :( Like if its rained half the week, I just don't feel like sliding around on the trails or tearing them up. Why drive over an hour to have to ride in crappy conditions ya know? I don't have trails at home, just very busy roads...I ride them soemtimes, but that gets old FAST. I can trailer to rail trails near by, while the footing is great...straight down the road and straight back also gets old fast xD

Someone take the rain away please.

I've literally only rode 25 miles so far this year. I used to do 350-400+ a year.

I told my husband we should move but that doesn't make much sense since I have my own business here thats going amazingly well.....and we just spent a small fortune getting solar panels installed on our house LOL!

End rant.

If I don't get out more this summer, anyone interested in some TWH's? LOL

At least the horses don't seem to care that they have no job.

Seeing the thread title, I knew you had to be close to me. It's raining right now. Heard on the local news last night that we are in our 6th month in a row with higher than average rainfall. We have gotten our arena dirt worked a total of one time since last year. We even gave up hauling to indoor arenas. We have new neighbors that let aggressive dogs run loose on their property, so we can't ride that way. Neighbors in the other direction who drive 60mph on the gravel roads, so can't go that way. The good news? We will be in the middle of summer shortly, and it will be too hot, humid and miserable to ride.

YES!! I can’t wait for middle of summer 😭😭😭

At least once it’s hot out if it’s not raining I can take the horses swimming. I’m just at such a loss of what to do! It’s expensive having horses even at home to do absolutely nothing with them!

I tried posting them for free off farm lease, my mare is easy to place, out if all the people that messaged about my gelding though none would be a good fit.

They just issued a flood warning for 10:50am tomorrow through Thursday. I think that's a first for me to see a warning for the next day. This is depressing. I understand how you feel. I have 10 horses, and yes they are not only expensive but A LOT of work. Everytime I think about cutting my herd, I just can't do it. Each one is special whether they are oldie-but-goodies with a forever home, or an up and coming youngster with a bright future. My daughter has over a year left of college, and I promised her that her babies would be waiting on her. Oh goodie. They just predicted 3.5 inches of rain overnight.

We've actually had the coolest, wettest May I've ever seen here in Arizona. It was snowing today! But, being Arizona, and normally being worried about wildfires this time of year, I am actually enjoying it. I know hot, dry weather will be here any time now!

There's a lot of stupid out there!

I hear you folks, it was a miserable hot, humid summer last year with a cold wet fall so riding was not the greatest and the flies, bugs the worst they have been for years and now we are having A LOT OF RAIN. It's raining now as I type this, I went over to ride today but slid around in the mud and we also can't ride on the trails because of all the mud so very slippery. Just takes the fun out of riding, and I am riding a new horse that I don't know much about so going out alone on the roads isn't a good thing. I did ride back to the woods a few days ago and slopped around and she was pretty good for that but asking a lot of a horse slog through all that.

Our barnyard is still muddy and we haven't seen it this bad in 50 years.

I do feel for the farmers as they have not even got started with field work or planting because of all the rain and they are a month behind now. My husband has retired so he doesn't have to worry but of course being a farmer all his life he does worry about all his neighbours.

When it stops raining it will turn desperately hot and the bugs so bad we won't be able to enjoy the trails then.

Bah, humbug

Last year was the wettest year on record here. We are currently ahead of the rainfall we got last year..

Everything goes squish. Two days in a row of not-rain is unheard of. We should be cutting hay and can't. My BIL is way behind on his planting because he can't get equipment into the field. Super, super frustrating.

There is no joy equal to that found on the back of a horse.

The weather patterns have been really odd the last few years. We have had LESS rain than is normal. We are supposed to be all wet and mossy, but the forests are so dry that beetles and diseases are attacking the trees, and I fear we will have another summer with air clogged with smoke, for weeks on end!

It is raining today, and for the next few days. we NEED it!
