a random phone call

I got a random phone call for an old co-worker of my husbands. He wanted to know if I was looking for hay this year. AM I???? DUH?!?! He gives me the phone number for a guy he knows and TADA!!!!! I spent every penny of my equine budget. I probably bought too much, but for 5$ a bale..... I now have a very tired & sore family, but there is 160 bales of nice, clean grass hay in the barn

Good feeling getting it all in the barn, isn't it? Doesn't take much to make us horsey peops happy!

Horse people are a little psycho, ya know? We're the only people I've ever met who get giddy over "grocery shopping" for the animals. Happiness is directly connected to our horses stomachs. I'm never as totally happy as I am when I have a barn full of hay, a couple of pallets of feed and a shavings bin that's stuffed full. LOL!

Where in OK are you? I just fired my long time hay dealer for trying to gouge me. Last year during the drought $3.50/bale for mediocre hay. This year? He wanted $6.50/bale. For that price I can go buy it from the feed store.

wow..what are the weight of the bales? be glad you not in CA . you would have a stroke at Hay prices.. alfalfa $14. to $18 a bale , 120 lb bales for the higher price and 100 lb for the lower price.. Cost a lot to keep a horse here!
but I think the cost of living is more here than in other states, deisel is almost $4.00 a gallon , and CA is a major supplier so our fuel should be cheaper..

I'm in Nebraska. I'm guessing the bales are about 65 lbs each. Got them for 5$ a bale, wich is cheep! Most people are selling at 6-8$ a bale. I defenatly got sent a "hay angle" this year
