She may have not been trying to make you feel guilty. It could be that she felt guilty for sending him to auction since she is the more experienced horse person and felt she should let you know.

Just ignore her. Once you sell or give away a horse it's out of your hands what happens to them unfortunately. He could be fine now, who knows. I've seen a few of my old horses up for sale where the owner is lying about some things. I ignore it, it's theirs to sell now.
