I'm late to the game here.

I just wanted to say not to give up. I'm in the same boat. I don't show though.

I think the hardest person on me, about my weight to my horse is me.

The short answer is that people can be jerks.

Just do your thing, and ignore the negativity.

What I have learned in my experiences; a person by themselves is usually very kind, caring, and supportive. People in general are arrogant, self absorbed, judgemental, pessimistic, people-haters. :O Whew! Deep breath.......

Now, don't worry about what other people think, you are riding for you and for the horse. Nobody else matters. So what if the judges are being biased, they will have to answer for that someday.

Try not to let it get you down. Be proud of yourself and ride to the best of your ability. Who knows..maybe you will prove to those people that larger people can be good riders too! People like that will always chose something to make fun of though. If it wasn't your weight, it would be something else. I'm not overweight at all, but I'm short and I have a big butt. I've been picked on my whole life for it. Eventually you just figure out that those people aren't worth your tears and you focus your attention on the positive people in your life.

You belong in the horse world just as much as anybody else around you!
I agree with cowgurl - focus your attention on the positive people in your life! You be proud of yourself! Keep doing what you love - show them all what you are made of! Hold your head up high - I'll be happy to be your friend! It's just a sad truth that there are people out there that enjoy nothing more than making someone else feel bad! It's THEIR loss!

I wouldn't judge a rider based on weight. But ladies and gents be aware of a horse's limitations. If you are larger get a suitable mount.

And to the original poster, you and your horse look fantastic together. Don't hate on yourself. So what your a bit heavier? Some girls are too tiny to ride certain horses. I know a girl who must weight 90 pounds soaking wet with a brick in her pocket. She owns a dutch warmblood and just gets dragged around everywhere because he will not respond to a light rider. Doesn't matter how well they ride. So having some meat (along with muscle of course) actually helps you out on that horse!
