Talking Recommendations for a Working Horse Ranch, Dude or Farm vacation?

Now that it's summer vacation, I was wondering if anyone knows of any great horse ranch or working farm experiences to recommend for a family or 'mom and son' vacation? I don't know an exact name, except Dude Ranch, but it's where you rent a room in a farm house, or barn loft, etc, and they show you how to do all the things that go on during daily life on a farm or horse stable. I'd prefer a strong horse environment... with maybe some gardening. haha

Anywhere in the country, or even Canada, would be fine.

If possible, suggestions of places that know how to teach kids would be great, as I have a 4-year old who loves to learn.

Take a look at Equestrian Travel Vacations - Horse Riding Vacations - Dude Ranch Vacations - Riding Vacation - Equitrekking.com - Equitrekking for a lot of very nice looking horse vacation adventures.

I can personally recommend the Daly's out of Douglas, WY. Two Creek Ranch dot net.

Another is Eaton's at Sheridan, WY.

Lots of fine ranches offering vacations.

Since you're in California, try looking at Alisal Ranch ( http://www.alisal.com/ ) near Sovang. I went there as a kid with my family and it was a blast. I've always wanted to go back.
