Red made a funny today!

Yesterday, I was at a barrel racing clinic, with my horse Red. We had the clinic at an indoor arena, because it's not nice enough to work outside (actually today, I'm not going back because it is blizzarding!!).

So we ride our horses in the morning, then we take a break to eat lunch, and give our horses a break. There is a commons area, that has windows that look out into the arena. There was an open spot right by the door that goes in and out of that area, and that's where I tied Red.

He's very, well, curious, so I positioned myself in a seat where I could see him through the window. And actually, he was often looking in the window at us!

Well about 10 minutes into our chit-chat over lunch, and the door handle starts rattling on the door, as if someone is having a hard time opening the door ........

I look up, and I see Red's neck stretched to the door .......

The person who was closest to the door, goes to open it up, thinking someone is having a hard time getting the door open. She opens the door, and Red peeks his head in.

Everyone starts laughing!

I said, well he is VERY friendly and loves people. I guess he just wanted to join us!!!

So that little stinker probably watched people go in and out of that door, using the magic handle thing. He thought he could just open that magic handle thing and come on in and join us.

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.

Love it! Red sounds like Woodstock, my Dennis the Menace/Marmaduke kind of horse. He is always getting himself into some kind of "trouble" intentionally. I have to double lock my walk through barn door because he is very skilled at using his teeth to turn the knob...then lets himself in and if you are the poor soul that happens to be in the feed room with ipod blaring in your ears at that time, you get to have a heart attack when you turn around and run smack into 1200 lbs of pita bay gelding...and then also get the fun of trying to maneuver him out.

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important, Capture the good times, Develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, Take another shot.

Red is a friendly "nosy" horse.

And my 2-yr-old is a total Dennis the Mennace! I can't leave anything unattended or he is chewing on it or playing with it, or getting into trouble!!

Oh such personalities....
