Question Saddle Fitter in North Central Florida?

I am looking for a saddle fitter that caters to the North Central Florida area. I have a western saddle. I'm terrified to ride my horse in any saddle until I know it's not going to hurt him. The saddle I have doesn't sit on his withers but it's close. I haven't been able to find ANY saddles that don't sit on his withers without double padding.

I don't really have the budget right now for a custom saddle, I wish though.

After a google search for Johnny Ruff I see a lot of his saddles going used for around $200.

Hmm I'll look into it. I just bought a saddle today but the clearance for his withers less than an inch....guess I'll have to buck up and tell her I don't want it. Haven't paid for it but I did tell her I'll buy it and she left it at my house.

Hopefully she is ok with it. Atleast offer a small amount to her for the trouble if there looks to be beef about it. Is she a friend or an acquaintance? Either way it will hopefully lessen the bad feeling by the offer.

She's an acquaintance. I'm going riding with her granddaughter this evening though. Oh and where did you find the saddles you mentioned? I can only find used ones for $400-$600. I think I might go down to his shop soon, it's only a two and a half hour drive, wish I could bring the horse though to ensure a good fit.

Why not? Load the horse up and bring it with. I've seen it done. If you don't have a trailer look for a rental place. Or just take a very accurate wither tracing!

Ok I was wrong. The cheapest I found was an 18" for $375. I guess I was looking at a different brand on the same site with them. Sorry..

I think you can bring the horse to him, call and ask. Hes a great guy, we were just up there about two Weeks ago and he has some great saddles. He also makes custom saddles too.
