Saddle talk:)

I recently got a job:).. YAY me.. anyways. I figured I want to save my money up for a saddle( a barrel saddle).. and Ive been looking online.. and on CL. and online it talks about soo many different things.. like Trees.. and full quarter semi quarter.. I have no idea what any of that means..

I know Sunny is a bit on the finer boned not very wide horse;) So what type of saddle should I be looking for?... I have pictures of him in my barn.. and if needed I can post some on here:)

thanks

Full Quarter Horse bars, Semi QH Bars, and Regular QH bars all pertain to width of the gullet of the saddle.

Make a wither tracing: Wither Tracings - How to Make a Wither Tracing for Saddle Fitting

And ask sellers what the gullet measures and compare it to your tracing (if buying online).
Even better yet, take the wither tracing to a store and try it on different saddles to find what width you should be looking for.

But, nothing is as good as trying the saddle out, and checking fit hands on.

My dad just bought a saddle that was cheap.. and we got lucky enough that if fits my horse.. or DID fit before he grew a bit and changed.. now I think he is getting a sore back.. sooo yeah..

A 14" barrel saddle should be just fine for you :)

If you don't know a lot about saddles I would not be ordering online. And the saddle that did pop up for me (I only could see one) looked like a Double T, witch are insanely cheap saddles. I personally would go to a saddle shop and try on as many as you can, some shops carry used saddles as well. So you can get a great brand named saddle for less than half the price of a new one. Or I would Highly recommend getting a saddle fitter out, it is the best money spent. You wont regret that!

there is a tack shop near my dads Car Lot that sells used saddles.. maybe Ill look on there website:)
