So i went to go see my horse for the first time! And i really want to train him to barrel race and more. I talked to the person i got him from and she said he would be a VERY good barrel racer by the way he's built! Very bold, also he is the sweetest little thing! Whats his breeding?
I'd make sure he has a good solid foundation personally then start training. I like to get my guys nice and responsive before we even look at barrels. I train using Lynn Mckenzies techniques. I went to several of her clinics and really loved how she worked with the horses and how they responded.
Have you barrel raced before? If not, now might be the time to start going to rodeos and just watching, make some friends and ask questions.
