If you post the pictures you got, I can get onto my JC account and see if I can come up with anything. Anything to pass the time until the Preakness.... :)
He is adorable, btw. I'm a sucker for an OTTB!

Unfortunately these are the best photos I managed to get. I haven't hassled him past that day. The black light didn't help make things any clearer when I tried that night.

I spent a ton of time on the jockey website trying to figure out who he could be, but it'd be great if anyone else wants to take a go at it.

The vet I had out Wednesday aged him at about 17. The only two numbers I am sure of are 5 and 4.

That last number looks like a 0 to me... Maybe the last three numbers are 540?

Good luck in your search! That's really cool that you're able to figure out actually who he is. I would love it if I could find that out about Lacey.

I agree with Wallaby. 540. You don't know his exact birth year? I can't make out the letter, but if he is 17, it would be an M. J,K, and L are before that (for the years 1990, 1991, and 1992 respectively) and after are N, O, and P. (you do the math on that one, LOL)

Good luck in your search!

ETA: MY INFO WAS INCORRECT! It should be a W if he was born in 93

Alright so here's what I found based on the markings....tell me which one you guys think is correct!

For tattoo number : X10540 (which would make him 18 )

"Diagonal star pointed to left and connected short mixed stripe, ending in center of face; cowlick to left in star"
---------
For tattoo number : X30540 (again 18 )

"Curved star open to right on top; short narrow stripe to right on bridge of nose; cowlick to right above eye level"

Unfortunately, I don't think there are that many numbers in front of the 5.

I think the number after the 4 is a 0 or 8, I didn't mention my guess before, because I didn't want to bias anybody . I'm leaning more towards 0, but it's so faded I wanted to leave my options open.

There's a # symbol at the beginning. Then the smeary number (or letter), then 5,4,0(maybe), and I think there might be a 7 after the 0. On a lark I punched in 5407 and foreign born, but I can't imagine my guy is actually from Ireland.

"Ezra *35407 - Curved star open to left and connected tapering stripe, becoming a broken line of white hairs and extending to left on bridge of nose, ending above left nostril. Double horizontal cowlick at top of eye level."

BTW, when they refer to left and right, is that the horses left and right (like in a biology text)?

^^I was thinking the same thing. I believe its looking at the horse, so it would be the persons left and right, not the horses.

I found this:
Narrow vertical star slightly to left in forehead; narrow stripe beginning at bottom of eye level, widening in center of face, narrowing and ending in a point to right on bridge of nose; median cowlick at eye level.

Justsambam, I don't think it's the second one you posted - that horse is listed as 'dark bay or brown' and the OP's horse would merely be a bay.
OP, that foreign horse may be worth looking into - with OTTBs, you never know! It sounds really close.

I would bet money that this horse is indeed Ezra, I am now very curious! :)

It looks, to me, like it clearly says #3540.
I could be wrong though, obviously! haha
