Tail training! and a new least favourite horse..
SO as most of you are aware I work at a camp with horses and this week I started tail training! A tail is the person at the back of the ride making sure all the kids are keeping their spacing, watching for safety and repeating calls the lead makes I.E when we go up or down I hill the lead will tell the kids which way to lean and the tail (me) will repeat that for the kids at the back and to let the lead know it's okay to start trotting. If a kid is having trouble I get off my horse to help them, I had to do that on one of my training rides when my new least favourite horse decided to go bush whacking and I had to haul her out of thick bushes and weeds and get bark mulch in my boots, all a part of being a tail, but annoying none the less.
