They say that once girls discover boys they forget horses...

When I was growing up my parents always said to me that all girls love horses but when they figure out about boys and relationships, they forget. That was never true for me horses and riding have always filled a gap in my heart. Its just like a hunger, im always thinking about ot. Even after I had a bad accident and went into a period of hating horses, I came out of it and went back to them. No matter how many times ive fallen, gotten yelled at, screwed up; I still came back. Just a thought bouncing around in my head. I dont do this because its a cool thing to do, im dedicated.

Same for me. I discovered boys, decided I liked my horses better, and that was the end of it. I'm 17, almost 18 - and I've never felt the need to date because I already have all of the love and acceptance I need from my two mares. Sometimes they make me mad, sometimes the make me cry, and they're always a huge amount of work, but they are so worth it. I'm not sure where I'd be without horses, but it would not be good.

Everyone in your life is meant to
be in your journey, but not all of
them are meant to stay till the end.

The ex gave lessons for 8 years and I would say the old saying is pretty true, about 75% of the girls gave up Horses after about age 14... at least that was some averages I notice during that time.

I think my parents are STILL waiting for that to happen! lol Sadly though their outta luck, I'm like Endiku. I made it through the good, bad, and horrible parts of my life with my horses and never felt the need to go after a guy. In fact I think the one guy I actually managed to go on a date with fled the property when I suggested we took the horses out for a midnight ride/cookout down by the nearest lake that was about 3 miles away, when he said 'how about we drive?' I got out a cart and harness! haha needless to say he was gone and I spent even more time with my horses!

See..I started horses the same time I was learning guys, lol.
Horses have always been my top priority (everyday now that she's 5mins away!), boys come second. My horse will not let me down or hurt me (emotionally anyways...LOL) like I've had boys do. My horse was the shoulder I cried on during those times.

I've managed to do both though I will admit the horses have more seniority than any guy ever got. Could it be I chose the horses more carefully?

^^ Naw, you just can't find many human guys who go along with spurs...

I discovered my love of horses at the same time I discovered boys. I'll admit I did give up horses for 8 years, but that was because life got in the way, and was in no way my husbands fault. Although being back with horses has made me a MUCH happier person. My husband always says I'm more pleasant now :)

i was one of those who never had time for a boy because my horse needed feeding, i had a show to prepare for, there was a lesson to be had, or a trail to be explored. i drifted when my parents sold my pony after losing a business. i was sixteen and understood, and was not very happy but, life is what it is. i ran away at seventeen, got into all sorts of horrible ****, and a very very good friend who was a boyfriend at the time, when i was 19, drug out my horsey desires and supported me in finding my mare. hes now moved on, but my mare has stayed. shes been my safe place for nearly four years now and she'll never be anything but mine.

girls who truly love thier horses never have time or desires for the crap others spend their time wading through. and it is SOOOOO true that most of us probably chose horses better than boys lol

I've alwaysed balanced both well. Horses and showing have been my lifestyle as long as I can remember. The serious boyfriends have came with me to shows, a few have tried riding with me. I've been to Prom and out late only to wake up early the next morning to prepare and show my horse then crash the rest of the day until morning. I've cancelled plans and ran off out of state for a horse show too. And I've skipped shows for dates. Any guy that meets me knows I come with a horse, I've never had one not like the horses. But I don't go all horse crazy on them. I try and be pretty fair. All of my old friends though have stopped riding, got into other things. Not me, life hasn't stopped me yet. I'll ride until I can't.
