Pro - With more than one horse you still have a horse to ride if one is a little off/lame/etc. and allow it to rest/recover completely. Everyone I know with only one horse winds up rushing their horse back to work, often prolonging the injury.

If you do get a 2nd horse just make sure that everyone involved (from the littlest to the largest!) helps in every aspect of horse care. As a mom, I'm sure they all look at you to do most of the real work.
Also I was surprised in the past to find that adding another horse doesn't just double the work, it quadruples it!
