Three Gratitudes

Thought I would start a What Am I Grateful For Today thread. Self explanatory title.

My contribution:
1. Watching my pony walk without a limp, four and a half months after breaking her leg.
2. Whoever decided to site my stable so the north/south breeze flows right through the center aisle. Such a summer blessing.
3. My solid little Morgan mare who trotted much of the hilly twelve miles we did two days ago without complaint, if you don't count the UPS truck.

1. My new rental house that I am almost finished moving into; the sight of my dog laying in the backyard instead of being trapped in my old studio apartment was a blessing.
2. Minnie trusting me enough to go on a short solo trail-ride; it may have been just 10 minutes, but it was a confident 10 minutes for her!
3. Owning Toofine for 12 whole years, since yesterday.

1. having my horses in my back yard where I can look out a window and watch them swat flies and nap in the sun
2. A self resilient daughter who can also make me laugh every day
3. A hard working hubby who is as I type loading up lawn mowers to go mow to earn extra money to pay for college for our daughter and our horse habit

1. Having to live in the city, I have minutes from my house one of the most beautiful places to ride you can imagine. Yes there are sometimes problems, right now the river is off limits due to human do do, but I do not have to deal with a lot of things that other trail riders here in California have to put up with. I just got back from my morning ride, so peaceful and quiet, you would never believe that you are in the middle of So Cal.

1. That the full-time job I finally managed to get the second month of this year is somewhere I am happy to work, that I feel I am doing something worth-while.
2. Finding a family so close to me to board Dreama with who also provide training and lessons... all the progress she has made, all the progress I've made.
3. My mother who has always supported my choices (as long as they are good for me) even when they are unconventional.

Things I am grateful for today:

1) My mom brought out the sweetest watermelon for my daughter and I while we rode in her arena.

2) We rode under a pivot (field about to be torn out) in the hottest part of the day. It is a rarity to get the chance, and my littlest giggled as she soaked herself and her colt.

3) Husband and I are home alone tonight! That almost never happens when you have kids.

Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you? - Balaamís Donkey

1. Though I lost my scholarship i have kept my job.
2. Despite having a small budget, I am pleased with my horse's training progress over the summer and all the adventures we've been able to have all over the state pulling the toaster.
3. I have incredible friends. Some of the best ones I met on HF.

Three gratitudes for today:

1. My amazing husband, who presently is digging down below the frost line for the foundations of my trailer garage, who repairs, designs, and builds all day long, and makes living here at all, much less with horses chickens goats and dogs, possible.

2. My irrepressible goat, Stewart. I feel privileged to spend time with an animal of such supreme curiosity, self-confidence, and intrepidity. Long may he reign.

3. My riding teacher, who is retired after forty years of teaching dressage and only took me on because, as she said, "you do your homework and make progress".

God has blessed me with--

1. Two of the best horses in the world--no buck, rear, kick, etc.--good for the vet and farrier--affectionate and kind--in excellent health--great on the trail

2. A job I love with clients who are now friends

3. Sisters who share my love of the equine

Horses are proof that God wants us to be happy

I have so many things but my top three are:

1. My sobriety

2. My family (wonderful husband, two grown children, my two dogs, my two cats and some close friends)

3. My horse Stella, she was not just a gift. She was a living dream that was passed to me from someone who could no longer live it. I am eternally grateful!
