Time to brag
Today was my daughter's first horse show EVER! She's only been riding for a year, and started riding huntseat late last fall. She's only had 1 lesson, other than me coaching. Because of our really weird weather & me being out of commission, she's only been able to ride 6 times so far this spring!! Not to mention she only decided to show a week and a half ago.
Because of this & the fact Odie can be....a knob. We came up with a goal. To just go in, do as best as she could & not get worked up, & finish the class. I honestly thought she'd get done with her showmanship class & be to nervous to ride. She didn't place in showmanship (later got a 6th because it was placed wrong). As she was leaving the ring, I could see the waterworks starting. But we all made a big deal of how proud we were of her.
So she decided to try her w/t classes. SHE LOVED IT!!! She either didn't place or placed last in them, but was so thrilled she went in. She even met a goal we had set up to accomplish after a few shows, she was able correct Odie (or do everything she knew how to) when he was being stupid without giving up the class. She handled him like a pro (well as best she could) without getting frustrated or giving up. She just kept right on riding!!
On the way home, she said "I'm really proud of myself. When's the next show, can we go tomorrow?". I am so proud of her, I just can't describe it.
When I get copy's of the pics
