Two very different rides.

No point In my post other than to share 2 very different rides. Short days and bad weather have really limited my riding lately but I got in two rides this past Sunday. The first was on my wife's 13 yo TWH mare. I had to work hard to keep her at a running walk with an occassional slow canter. We rode a little over a mile and she was soaked with sweat. I then switched to my & my daughter's 19 yo appaloosa mare and rode the same route. I had to work just as hard keeping her below a gallop and at a medium canter that I was comfortable with. Not a drop of sweat anywhere. Both horses get similar amounts of exercise and eat the same hay and ration balancer. I had never noticed that there was so much difference in them. The appaloosa is an equine athlete, the TWH not so much. I guess thats why we keep 4 horses for 2 riders. We can pick the horse for the mood and task at hand.

I love that my two horses are two completely different rides.

Walka is my luxury sedan, smooth and calm. Misty is my little sports car, quick movements and quick mind. She does have a tendency to sweat mostly due to nervousness, but she listens to her rider so hopefully with more exposure she'll learn to relax and conserve some of that energy.

If I only have time to ride one on a particular day, I usually let how I feel determine which one.....and even that is difficult as they are both enjoyable to ride. Good "problem" to have imo!

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, "Oh crap, she's up!".
