Ugh, I swear....

So today I go out to the barn a little later than usual, so there are lesson kids running around and tacking up their horses. I have Ice in the cross ties, waiting on the round pen to clear up--the western trainer was working with a 3 y/o on her manners. Usually, Ice only tolerates having his face touched, and he absolutely hates having his muzzle petted. Well, one of the little girls walks right up to him and starts messing with his head and face, and he's totally in love with it! He puts his ears forward and puts his "little boy" look on, where he softens up his eyes, breaks at the poll, and compiled with his short mohawk of a forelock, he looks like a little kid. I reach out to pet him while the little girl is still standing there, thinking "oh, he's gonna be a butt head to me now" and he's not! He almost leaned in to my hand actually. I'm completely appalled and the little girl goes on to get her horse from his stall.

Ten minutes later, I do the same thing to him, just reach out and pet him as I walk by, and he makes a sour face. I swear horses are way smarter than we give them credit for.

^^^^ Heh, yeah, good point. Much better he let the little one love on him, than get mean with her.

That's actually really funny! That "Horses Never Lie" book title really makes me laugh! So not true! XD

Aww! Totally cute! My gelding is a good soul. Gets a little hot under saddle. I put a little 3 year old girl on him and he walked around the arena slower than I've ever seen him move. Course it might have something to do with the butterscotch treat bag she broke into and fed him LOL!

I had one like :) He would be a butt head with me, but little kids could do anything with him. He would stiff leg me when I went to pick up his feet, but he was the perfect horse for teaching little kids about He would pick them up slowly, and hold them perfectly for kids.

Haha, luckily he's pretty willing to let me poke and prod him just about anywhere (we actually sprayed bloodstop up his nose and he didn't even flinch), he'll just let me know hes not happy about it and sulk.
