Ugh yes.. I know. In the 4th episode, "Birth," the lighting is so horrible you can't see much except for a black screen. I did catch that episode on TV and the lighting is a bit better.

I was honestly appalled at the amount of bashing going on between these grown women. I don't treat anyone like that. Ever.

That broodmare was in no condition to be pregnant in the first place.

And I'm sorry if this comes off offensive (it's no meant to) but where does a single mom get that kind of money? What are their day jobs? Do they have any?

The single mom was with a boyfriend in the first episode. You find out later that she's used some of his money to fund this little project.
... then you find out later that they don't have the money to fix fences or the outdoor ring.
... then you find out later that the (now single) mom has paid $20,000 for her daughter's first horse.

I gathered that she used some of Mike's(?) money for the barn, but seriously?! $20 grand on your kid's FIRST horse?

My God. That better be one hell of a horse. He better pay for her education or something.

Also, $800/month for board there? If I'm paying that kind of money, my horse better be living better than I am.

That broodmare looked thin...

This whole thing is silly...and the immaturity is laughable. Unfortunate, but laughable.

Unfortunately, this show furthers the attitude that hunter/jumpers are stuck up snobby spoiled brats who don't know the first thing about actual hands-on horse care.

*sigh*

I liked when the blond girl figured out that the barn is actual work. "This is so hard! *whine*"

I watched it last night! It does perpetuate the myth that hunter/jumper riders are stuck ups...those women (and I use the term loosely!) are terrible to eachother!! It has to be scripted to some extent I think. Who acts like that at a show? You'd be black-balled from the shows I go to if you acted like that.
I must admit though, I cried a little when they found the still borm foal. That girl was just broken. I felt for her, and for that poor mare. I agree that their horses look too thin, and $800 a month is rediculous for board at a place with crap fencing and bitchy management.

I do think it's scripted, they just don't seem very...casual? Or they almost seem like they are trying to hard.

As far as the shape of the facility, it will get better I'm sure. They have just moved in. I know when we got our first place I was more than shocked at the amount of work involved, I still am. Do I think that maybe they jumped in to quick? Well yeah, sure they did, but wouldn't you have. I know I would have. Everyone thinks to far ahead and I would have been thinking "Hey it's a barn and an arena, just needs a bit of clean up. Lets get it!" Especially if the price was right.

The broodmare was skinny, but in their defense again they have only been caring for those horses themselves for a short period of time, all of those horses were at a boarding stable. And I also have to say that the mare looked much better in the 4th episode then the 1st (in the first one I think I actually cringed at her appearance)

But yes absolutly they should have looked at the fence to insure that saftey of their horses, although I think the show is going to show all the stress that they are going thru to get people to watch it. Lets face it people LOVE drama.

As for their attitudes there is NO excuse. They have terrible attitudes, the way they talk to the fellow competitors is bad but how they talk to each other and they own employee's is TERRIBLE!
