We moved to the new place

So I moved my guy to a new place September 28. I really like it there. There are far fewer horses, which means fewer boarders. Since moving him there, I've only seen the BO there once last week, and then I saw BO again and one of the boarders (possible the only other boarder, lol) tonight. It's so wonderfully quiet and calm. Plus, it's a full care only facility. I don't think I can go back to a full/partial care facility again. I'm paying more, but I drive less time overall. Yay! I texted the BO today saying I'd be out that evening and to please not put my horse out. She replied saying they were out all day because they were in while it was pouring all weekend (like really pouring and chilly), but she'd bring him in if she got home before I got there. I thought that was really nice! I'm not used to this! My horse is very happy and already made good friends with his pasture mate (the only other gelding at the barn). He follows him all over the pasture. The pastures are nicer, too. There's actual grass! Granted, my horse found the only burr patch in the pasture that the BO didn't existed, but he's got actual grass to eat rather than clover and weeds.

And a few pictures:

Pretending to ignore me

Quest is almost successful in hiding behind Mac

Mac says hi and Quest tries to be nonchalant

That's my hairy boy! I haven't had a chance to clip him. I realized today that I don't have my blades at the barn - they're still with the rest of my stuff at home. He got lucky this time.

Wow, he is pretty..and no doubt pretty happy. :)

There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it.

So happy you found a great boarding place! It definitely can make or break your horse happiness.

It's only been 1.5 weeks so far, but we both are really happy. even my husband and 8 year old daughter like it better at the new place. Besides the pasture quality, the best thing about the place is that my horse went from a 9x9 stall with the sides boarded all the way up and chain link across the front and a solid wood door to a 12x12 (or maybe 12x14) with open vertical bars all around and a swing out where the feeder is so he can stick out his head. He loves hanging his head out of the stall - easier to beg for treats that way.
