Weird Weather

Seriously, whats up with the weather worldwide?

It's summer over here in Aus & 2 states had snowfall yesterday like a foot deep in some places, & we have major floods in many states after 10 years of drought.

I've seen on the news the chaos in the US & UK with the weather & it's really starting to freak me out!

Is it like a 100 year cycle thing or just not normal?

I live in Southern CA and it's absolutely POURING here and when it's not pouring it's drizzling. My poor horses are slipping and slopping all over, even under their shelters is nasty now. I really enjoy the rain but goodness this is crazy.

And to think Tony Abbot didn't believe in global warming stupid man (for those who don't know Tony Abbot is the leader of the oppisition here in Aust and when running for prime minister he refused to admit global warming was real idiot)

But honestly this weather is crazy just yesterday it was raining and like 27 degrees and today it was stikinking hot and like 33 degrees and on Christmas were having a stinker 38 degrees gosh sweating just thinking about it lol but a hot christmas is a happy christmas :)
Feel bad for all the peolpe up north in WA cos it just flooded there :(

Yeah I'm not big on the global warming theory either.....
A shift in the earths poles is more plausible .

Its hard to say if the weather is crazy or its just part of a bigger cycle that man has not been around long enough to document... Just a thought :P

Apparently there is the whole El Nino/La Nina cycle where Australia (and other countries I don't know which) rotate through. Australia has been in El Nino for many years and just this year (apparently) we switched to La Nina. The cycle averages at about 5 years but I think the last was longer. Now that we have switched we'll get more rain for the next few years. Its got to do with pacific ocean but it does affect many countries. It's a normal cycle.

Saying that, yes Australia has had a bad flood season but you look at lots of places that are flooded (ie. Wagga, Wee Waa) and notice that these places have floodbanks and other flood measures - they are used to flooding just not to this extent. In most of their history they have had floods, and some real bad ones, this is just another bad season.

Last night though it got to 3 degrees! In summer! I felt so bad because my horse only had a cotton on but I didn't think it would get that cold until autumn.

Yeah pizmo even here in SA as you know, the weather has been really weird. Usually we're in the 40's by this time of year, xmas in 2 days and im still in trackies and jumpers rather than shorts, t's and thongs (shoes for the american's haha!)!!
The drought did last longer than usual, 10 years is pretty excessive but it IS a la nina year so thats fair enough that we're getting weird shifts in weather.
However, I don't understand the mindset of some people, that think global warming is just a made up scare tactic. Do you REALLY think we can pour billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and not have any impact? That's called wearing rose coloured glasses and it's that attitude that is going to end up turning Earth into a firey ball of uninhabitable dust one day. Why fight AGAINST the 'greenies' trying to reduce carbon emissions, when obviously, whether you 'believe in' global warming or not, reducing the amount of these noxious gases going into our atmosphere is going to be a good thing, either way? Yeah, no problems lets just rip down ancient rainforests that store tonnnes upon tonnes of carbon, and pump a few more gasses into the atmosphere... oh, but we're not going to affect anyone doing it?

Sorry, bit of a passionate subject, I could go on... and on... and on... half of my uni degree is about this!
