Question What breed of horse do I have?

I was told that my pony is a Blue Roan but truth be told I'm just not sure, what do ya'll think? I have looked at Blue Roans, Greys, and Grullo.

I love my foal just wondering about the breed, her parents are both Grey.

Picture is too far away to tell for sure but one parent would have to roan in order for your filly to be roan. If she is grey, which is more likely, she might look like a roan to some at the beginning of her color change. The best way to tell is that roans will always have a dark head and lower legs, while a grey will have white hair mixed in on the head.

Another thing to note is that all these are colors and have nothing to do with the breed of horse.

Ahhh thank you! Yes her papers state both parents are grey. She's a very neat little pony looks black, then spots of red and of course white on her face. I have had two horses before her, one paint and one red roan this is the first horse that I purchased without my fathers help (he had an emergency to attend to) I'll try to take a better picture tomorrow she seemed more interested in eating the grass than looking up at me.

QMS: Sorry about breed vs color I blame my cold meds

If you have papers, do they not show the breed? I've never seen papers that don't list a breed.

I assume you know the difference between horse and pony ~ to me she looks more like a horse.

She is 6 months old its not the best picture from the side you can tell how small she is and yes the papers say both parents are Grey.

I do not have her papers yet, just the papers of her parents.

What kind of papers are they and what does it say at the top of them?

It is a registration application for the foal. It states the Sire and Dam, when they were bred (resulting in my horse) and there information with both of the horses being Gray.

Basically its the foaling information :)

They are asking what breed the application is for, each registry is going to have their own application and it should say on there what breed association it is for.

And I agree the foal is definitely gray!

Grey is a COLOR. Not a breed. If you want to know the breed, look at the top of the papers and see what association it says it's for.

A horse without pure lineage cannot be registered...generally.
Chickenoverlord likes this.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.
