Sneeble: That's awesome, so I CAN wear long boots with Luca?!
(since he's not a pony and we are not going to do any dressage, because Luca is just....well, not made for dressage. He's more of a jumper or just general riding horse )

The best way to find out whats acceptable dress and tack is to contact your local branch - they usually have fact sheets that they'll post to you or something online
In the UK the Pony Club way has always been considered to be the correct professional way to care for your pony/horse and it works in line with British Horse Society teaching
I looked up the NZ website and if this link works you can click on General regulations which is the top 'select' and it should tell you most of what you want to know.
I've also put in a link to the Home page - loads of info.

possibly..they also usually have a website.

if ur into competing, they also do interclub, which is all ur area's zones compete, so for here, first half is like dressage, hacking, leading stuff, and the second half is sporting events,

and there you usually wear the same outfit,, ur zones pony club shirt and saddle cloth,

I find that usually you can wear whatever jodhpurs you want to rally days, and other pants too, just not jeans. But to competitions you have to wear beige. And brown ankle jodhpur boots. Again though, it's the individual club that enforces the rules so it differs club to club. I knew a club that let a girl ride in a western saddle and that is way against a few pony club rules.

Becca - You either need to own or lease your horse. It's a bit flexible though. When I was a kid you used to have to fill out a form to "register" the horse with the pony club, and it either needed to be yours or you needed lease papers. However if you were riding someone else's horse that was already registered then, well that was more flexible. However if you don't have a horse at all, well I guess technically you could join as a non-riding member but it would be pointless. Depending on your age though, you could go there as a volunteer helper.
