I don't own one yet..soon though. All I have to say is horses will keep your head screwed on right in your teenage years;) (Don't know how old you are)

Horses aren't just a pleasure, they are an escape from all evils of mankind.

I can't believe the amount of people coming off as negative about this topic! Saying how much hard work it is and how little reward you get back from owning horses.... 90% work and only 10% fun? Are you kidding me?! If the payoff of owning horses was REALLY like that, nobody would do it. There comes great reward and happiness in having something you love...something you can call your own. Sure horses are expensive, sure they can be very hard work especially if you don't board somewhere.....but to think for one second that it doesn't completely pay off is ludacris. I wouldn't change a single thing. At the end of the day, every experience with my horse(s), good or bad, is worth every **** second..and dollar!

I was thinking the same exact thing. I could'nt agree more!

I would say the 90% work/10% fun statistic is completely accurate. Sure it's probably different for those who board and someone does all the work for you. But for those that do their own feeding, clean their own stalls, do their own exercising, blanketing, grooming, everything else, figure out time invested vs time you just get to enjoy 1 on 1 with your horse. 10% is pretty darn accurate!

I don't think anyone is being negative... Just painting an accurate picture of how much work and expense is really involved!

I've spent most of my life riding horses. The rest I've just wasted.
