I have so many songs for my horses.
I have a series of journals on this forum which have song reference titles. I even have a CD I made with my "horse life soundtrack." Different events and different years all have different "theme songs" I associate with them.
When I was 14, I got my first horse Baby Girl, and "The Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine was our song. It was a new chapter of my life, and I wanted to run
and have fun
. It's a fun, happy song, but it also has this one verse: "And I never wanted anything from you Except everything you had and what was left after that too"
Basically the thesis of my and Baby Girl's relationship, for better or worse. Because I wanted to have fun, but I also passionately wanted to win
My second year with Baby Girl, I found out she had PSSM. She almost died. We had to make an epic comeback that no one thought was possible. So I found us an epic comeback song -- "Where We Belong" by Thriving Ivory.
Third year with Baby Girl began the campaign for a national championship. The struggle is very real.
We had so many problems, and no one expected us to get as far as we've gotten. So year three gets "Chances Are" by Five For Fighting. "Eight to five or two to one, Lay your money on the sun Until we crash, what have we done Is there a better bet than love?"
And each of my horses have a "master theme song." Baby Girl has "Fixing Titanium" by Mashup Germany.
My other horse Miss Kitty doesn't have a year theme of her own yet, but she does have a main theme: an instrumental cover of "Dustland Fairytale" by The Killers. Because the instrumental does sound like fairy tale music, and I met Kitty by a perfect act of fate. Like a fairy tale.
And then there is the song that will play when the credits roll in my imaginary movie.
"True Love" by Angels and Airwaves.
