Storm (the TWH I'm training)- I want her to move off the leg, canter and to get her timid owner on her in the arena. I also want to find a half leaser for her, as I can only work her 3 days a week while I'm in school. I also want to get her I'm trail as many times as possible this summer so the leaser and her owner can hit the trail with out me.

Skip and I are hitting some locals shows for out first time ever, together. It won't be my first show, but it will be my first western show. We're doing trail, pleasure, showmanship, horsemenship, and command. I'm VERY excited for that!

The donks... Maybe they will drop a pound or two, that would be nice. I would also like to integrate them into the lesson program.

Sometime around this coming month or the next I'm going to start a half-lease with my lesson horse and I am going to start working on cross-rails. Hopefully the amount of work I plan to put in will be enough so that I will be ready for my first jumping show towards the end of the year. All the while trying to do summer semester in school. *crosses fingers*

Oh yes, and I want go get back into reining lessons. Unfortunately, the place I take lessons at is a small family run barn. Lessons have been slow so my trainer sold off or retired the horses she isn't using. I'm hoping a friend of hers will let me barrow her horse.

It'll be winter for me but I plan on getting better at my riding, trying out a few more jumping lessons, getting this project horse a little more consistent. I've ordered her a new bit, some boots, and my friend is sending a halfpad since her back is so....idk. To me it looks like there's not really any topline. She's not reacting to belly lifts which is odd. May have to see if the owner could get a chiro out to see if they can do it on her.

And of course saving money like crazy so that I can move out.

I'm going to work on the ranch for the majority of my "summer". I will be going to visit some friend out in Galveston, Tx in July.

Ride with us!

Starting June 1st, I'll be living in BC, working at Lone Larch Akhal-Tekes. I have been told that my jobs will consist of exercising the endurance racing horses, helping train colts, and general stable work. I am just excited to be getting back on a farm!

I hope to show my trail mare in an open pleasure class at the country fair, I'm hoping their is a walk/trot class I can try. Then I am also bringing my weanling to be shown in halter, and just get acclimated to the show environment for the future. Aside from that, I am hoping for lots of good trail riding, on my seasoned mare, my gelding, and another one of my mares. Then, I'm hoping for some good driving time and fieldwork without any trouble. We are looking to get a new horse in the future to make our team for fieldwork, and I am excited for whoever that ends up being, if at all.

My summer horsey plans include encouraging my horse to continue putting on weight. After a very hard fall and winter he is FINALLY starting to make some progress. I will also continue light "trail" riding around the house at a trot to improve his muscle tone and hopefully help build his topline. I would absolutely love to be able to trailer him to a friends house to ride with her this summer or fall, but I'm doubtful he will have the stamina or that she and I will have the time. It's my goal though!

ETA: My one real goal that I have total control over is learning how to mount from the ground. I am so tired of having to use a milk crate/rock/tree stump/etc.
