Just over 2 months ago, I was bucked off one of our mares. We were in the round pen and each of us took turns riding her at a walk. No saddle or bridle. Just a halter and lead rope. I have rode her out on the road a few times before but she did buck me off before when I tried to lope on her.

I decided to get her up into a trot. She decided it was time for me to get off and bucked. I went up and when I came down, my lower right leg landed on her butt. It bent outwards and turned my body so I hit the ground just below my left shoulder blade.

After I regained my breath, I got up and was pretty sore. The next day I decided to go get checked out because I could barely walk with my knee hurting. They took xrays but said I didn't have any broken bones but they weren't sure if I tore my ACL. They put me on crutches until the swelling went down and I could be rechecked.

5 days later, I couldn't move due to the pain in my side. (I only used the crutches for the first night but it started to make my side hurt) I was hauled to the hospital in an ambulance. They did a CT scan and it came back that I had 5 fractured ribs. I spent 2 nights in the hospital and was told not to ride for 2 months.

I didn't listen of course and had rode 3 times in the 2nd month.

I still have a little pain when I cough or sneeze but it's at least bearable.

I have fallen more times than i can count. Most of time it was small things like trotting with no stirrups or reins, or attempting to ride side saddle. Almost 2 years ago i had 3 falls in the exact same spot and messed up my shoulder(it still hurts sometimes) i didnt blame ted because i had just gotten him and he was out of work for years. About a month or so ago we were going to a jump(only like 2'3) and he jumped it really hard(he was excited, we hadent jumped in a few weeks), i fell right on my back. I was shaking like crazy, my ears were ringing and everything was blurry, so i sat there for a few minutes while my trainer and friend held teddy...i got back on when i could see right again and didnt tell anyone about the ringing or blurryness (I know, stupid of me) i was mad at myself for falling and went to the jump again after cantering around and doing a smaller jump. Of course the second time i also fell beause i was off balance from the first fall, the second wasnt bad just a lot of sand in my clothes. I got on again and jumped a smaller jump because he doesnt jump as hard with smaller jumps and called it a day. I hadent had an off day like that in forever, Teddy was pumped to be jumping again though!
