When is enough, enough?

I've just about had it. I've lived at my current property with my mom and brother for the past 10 years. We moved out in June of 2001. We made sure we were allowed to have horses{as we live in a hamlet} and then fenced 3-4 acres of land and got 2 horses. The County and our neighbours fought that. They claimed we were using their land, they CUT our fences and threatened my family. One of our neighbours actually threatened us with a chainsaw. Our fences are mad of high strength tensile wire and 2 by 4's. The wire was cut for the first 3-4 years of us having horses. After having horses for a year we got our third for free because our friend couldn't do anything with him. We sued the County and our neighbours for a coupel of differant issues concerning out horses and the land that was disputed. Last year we lost the horse trial but the County thankfully gave us a permit which allowed us to have 4 horses. We won the land issue and the boundaries are now being discussed.

For the past 10 years our horses have gotten out over 5 or 6 times. The first few was from people cutting our fences, something we had no control over. The one before today was because a huge Warmblood we had plowed over the gate. Not really something we had control over but nobody elses fault. And today our horses got out again. For the 6 or 7 time. The bratty evil pony broke a board on the fence and then we're guessing sat on the wire or something because when my mom looked at the scene of the crime the wire was snapped not cut, snapped. We got the horses back fine after a little scare because they ran over the highway and there are a lot of semi's on the highway near me. The RCMP was called and we're waiting to see if we get a ticket. If they ticket us it will have been the 5 or 6 ticket and we'll probably be forced to get rid of the horses because we can't afford board for 3 horses at any barn.

I'm just so tired of it all! My mom is a single mom trying to support me and my brother and my riding and its so hard on her. My dad doesn't really help at all {he battles alcoholism}. My mom is so close to giving up, selling our horses and moving in to the city. We just don't know what to do anymore! We're seriously considering selling the pony who broke the fence. Would it be wise to sell him now or to wait till summer to get rid of him? I jsut don't know if me or my mom can deal with all this **** for very much longer. As much as I love having horses in my backyard would it be easier and a better choice to get 2 differant show horses {one for me, one for mom} and just live in the city? Aside from the fact that I hate the city.
