A year of lessons, I can't quite remember. I'd imagine I was walk, trot and doing basic canter work. Some basic trails, basic games and trot poles. I was eight or nine so I think it was slower than if I was an adult, because there were others kids and I guess a lot of it is riding not just learning. That was just at one hour a week on a different school horse each week. The second year of lessons I did two hours a week and got a lot better. Small jumps, more cantering, trails etc. Then I got my first horse. I think no matter how much I had learned in a lesson environment it still would have been a huge learning curve having my own horse.
