Winx!

So I have an American friend with Australian dogs (Kelpies) which I guess got her interested in the Aussie racehorse Winx. She started sending me youtube links to her races to cheer me up about the trend of American politics (not going there). I don't follow racing at all, not since I was a kid and anything to do with horses was of fascination, much less Australian racing. So Winx was news to me. Good news!

I could watch that mare come from behind all day long. I believe she has now won over thirty races IN A ROW, over a wide variety of distances and footings.

Any Winx fans out there?

I am a fan. She is very special and prepping for her 4th Cox Plate. I was reading in the comments on video of her last amazing win and someone wrote she came home sub 22. That was a pretty long race to do that.

The Pegasus has added turf race this year. I would absolutely love for her to come over and let our racing fans get to see this spectacular mare.

Wow! I'm definitely a Winx fan after watching that! That is so cool how she stays in the back for most of the race and then makes her move and wins by several strides!

Hold on to what makes you happy! If it tries to buck you off, just hold on even tighter!

On her Wikipedia page it says that she has a very average stride length, not a giant stride like you'd expect for such a winner. But she is sort of a freak of nature in that she increases her speed by increasing the number of her strides, like a propeller!

In the 60 minutes feature her jock said she can hold that stride forever. Strength and speed are two very different things in races horses. She has an abundance of both.

If you're interested in Winx, maybe check out Chautauqua?
He's been retired now because he doesn't consistently jump from the gates but when he was racing he was really special.

Love Winx.

You might love Black Caviar as well, she is retired now and has had 4 foals. But she was considered better than Winx. They are both great in their own right, maybe we shouldn't compare, but Black Caviar raced at Ascot as well, it was close she won by the nod of her head, but a win is a win and they say the jockey was easing up. Second video shows finishes only.
