What are your favorite horse movies? I've watched Dreamer (loved it!), Seabiscuit, Black Beauty and Miracle of the White Stallions. I'd like to get Secretariat from the library some time. What are some of your favorites?

Are we talking a movie based solely on horses or a movie in which horses figure prominently?

If it's the latter, then The Man From Snowy River and Return to Snowy River are two of my favorite all-time movies and are the reason I fell in love with horses. I watched The Man From Snowy River when I was three and wanted to be just like Jim Craig.

If it's the former, I'm not really a big fan of movies strictly about horses, although Secretariat was pretty good.

Anyone remember the Disney ones?

Run Appaloosa Run
The Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit
Cristobalito (about a Paso)

I really enjoyed National Velvet when I was younger :D

And who can forget that gorgeous Fresian in the movie Ladyhawke?

I'd have to say Black Beauty and Spirit. I find most of the other ones really annoying.

When I was a toddler, I used to love watching "Rainbow Bright" mainly because, she had a horse named starlight and I always wished I could have an awesome horse like that... lol

I love Dreamer, Flicka, and The Princess Stallion.

Spirit! Hands down. I have some friends that I could sit and watch that with any day. It's our first choice when it's rainy and we can't ride (we're wranglers at a summer camp).

I'm not that big a fan of the Seabiscuit movie anymore after reading the book it's based on. I got them both for Christmas when the movie came out. I read the book a few years ago, then tried to watch the movie again. The book goes into way more detail and is quite a bit gorier, but very interesting.

Totally didn't know King of the Wind had been made into a movie! LOVE that book!! My old gelding looked A LOT like Sham (except Dakota has more white, but their bay is almost the exact same shade, as per the original cover of Marguerite Henry's book).

Secretariat for me, hands down! So many other good ones for sure, but this one is my all-time favorite. The amazing things that horse accomplished!! The Triple Crown? I've never been interested in horse racing, but this movie was very well done. Seen it a hundred times now, and always choke back tears at the end of the last race to hear Eddie say,
"There you go, Red"!.....
