Your opinions please.

I have just started a facebook page and have included pictures of my stallions and some of the other horses.
As everyone knows here on the forum I sign off each post with the word Shalom. It is the hebrew word for peace and is a blessing meant to all people of good will.
Now this facebook page is dedicated to my horses and breeding operation.
There are a lot of arabian horse owners in the middle east and they enjoy arabian racing much more than here in the USA.
My question is should I continue to use the word Shalom as a blessing in a facebook page to promote my horses. Knowing that with the acquisition of Rushin Sam, a proven race horse and son of the leading sire of arabian race horses, a lot of interest might come from the middle east. i will be promoting him and already have facebook friends with arabic writing in their names and responses.
Now I am in no way going to ever deny or evade the fact that I am a very proud Jew and an Israeli citizen as well as one of the USA.
I do not use the word Shalom in a professional setting especially while working at the Veterans Hospital. The word has no religious meaning unless said in the form of a prayer. However there are people from different backgrounds and religions there and I for one do not want to offend any of them. It is probably OK for me to say it but saying Merry Christmas or something else religious is not. If christian cant say it then I do not want to encourage any animosity when I use the word Shalom.
However this facebook page is an extension of me. This is my personal page to present and promote my hobby of breeding arabian horses.
With the conflict in the middle east now approaching 70 years without any relief in sight I do not want to eliminate a very large and profitable segment of my potential customers.
i do have another stallion prospect that I hope Star and Sam can generate enough income to have him professionally trained and promoted. I have estimated that cost at around 30,000$ for the next 3 years.
I do know some arabian breeders in Israel and Jewish owners have been locked out of the lucrative deals from Muslim owners. Simply because of their citizenship and religion.
Any suggestions and opinions will be appreciated. Shalom

In this world people get 'offended' by anything and everything you do. In a perfect world, no one would get offended.

I don't think you'll be scaring away people from your stallion if you say shalom in your post. If they're interested in your horse, they're interested in your horse whether or not your Catholic, Jewish, Arabic, etc. Now unless you get a strong feedback from people saying that they are offended, and will quit service with you, then you may need to change some things possibly. However being a Catholic I don't plan on changing my ways whether or not someone is offended. I think its silly that no one can say Merry Christmas anymore. I can see saying Happy Holidays during all of the different religions celebrating their own holidays, but when its Christmas I gladly say it.

What I think is people need to ignore others and grow a thicker skin.

Just my two cents.

For the wretched of the earth there is a flame that never dies.
Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.

If its a personal FB page, go ahead because its representing YOU. If you created one for your business, then maybe I wouldn't.

I have to agree that people too easily get offended over minute things. You can please some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, all the people some of the time, but you cannot please all the people all of the time.

I used to deliver newspapers. During the holidays, I would give out cards to the subscribers. Some would give a card back and some would give a gift. One year I tried putting "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas. I received less cards and gifts that year than any other year. Go figure. So much for being "politically correct."

If it were me, I would have a private page for friends and a business page. I would keep the business page strictly to promote your horses, and use the personal page for everything else. It is also true, that no matter what we do we will offend someone. However, in a business setting you would want to minimize this, and IMO, "shalom" does tell more about the person and their personal beliefs than you should have on a business page. JMHO. Shalom, Donald. Oh-and your page looks good!

I agree with SouthernTrailsGA.

Do you really want to do business with someone that closed minded anyways?

Seems like with the quality or horses you have you're not going to have any problem finding customers.

JulieG I see your point but like franknbeans I do believe certain things should not be talked about or promoted at work.
Individuals do business everyday with people who do not agree with us or we might not like.
I was also just informed that since the Facebook page and my name here on the forum are the same that if anyone googles it they will see my post here .
This information renders my question useless.
STG I will not compromise my integrity, or deny who I am for anyone.
I do know that Israeli companies that do business with the arabs usually have two names. One in Hebrew and one in Arabic mostly for security reasons.
Franknbeans send me a friendship request and anyone else that wants to is invited to also. Shalom

haha whoops!

Is there any way to delete this page and then you won't have to worry about people finding it?
