Another vote for the french link snaffle! My horse will literally follow the bit when I take it out of his mouth because he loves playing with the link so much... :P. It is a "milder" bit than a plain snaffle as it applies more even = less harsh tongue pressure and doesn't "nutcracker" against the palate, but I always hear people saying that when their horse hated a single-joint snaffle, they loved a french link...

I'll vote for the kimberwicke, though a french link may work.

The possibility of ulcers may be a factor, too.

I used a french link snaffle on my Paso Fino mare-she really liked it. I also tried it on my Arab & he liked it too. They are both in their 20's.

My first question is....have you had his teeth checked? Bad teeth can cause a lot of bitting issues.

I'm afraid a Mullen mouth would be too soft, but a kimberwick is way too harsh. Someone suggested a french link. I've never had one so I don't know. I have a curb which he likes but I don't need the leverage. Suggestions????
Use the curb and forget about it. Yes, you have the leverage but just because you have it you don't have to use it.

Lots of people here seem to think if you don't use a snaffle your horse isn't trained correctly.

I call BS on that....use what works and enjoy the ride.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
