Lightbulb HorseForum US Gift Exchange Thread

For the holiday season (not just for Christmas celebrators) I'm willing to organize a secret santa exchange. I think this would be a great way for people to connect "in the real world" and share some holiday fun associated with everyone's money eating favorite fuzzy: their horse. This is not an "extravagant" gift exchange, and I'm thinking a budget of $25-$45 is just fine. If you want to participate, do fill out the questionnaire linked at the bottom of the post, and then stay tuned for an email on thanksgiving alerting you to who you are gifting to.

Rules:
Must be in the USA (my brain is not going to handle multiple country organization)
Must be an experienced HF member actively in the community.
Must be willing to pay postage and mail a package in a timely manner so that it at the very latest gets to its person by the first of the new year.
Must be an adult (18+)

If this sounds like something you would like to do, please fill out this questionnaire, and then I will assign 'santas' at random by Thanksgiving, hopefully giving everyone plenty of time to pick out and mail a present.

This is on the honor system, however I will get ahold of you if your person does not receive their present, and then I will tell my horse about it and he will be so disappointed in you that he might go off his feed, and what kind of horrible person would want to put a poor pony off their feed?!

I will add, since I was not very specific in the first post that its important for participants to be long time members/ active in the HF community. Thats why the questionnaire asks for "rank" since its far easier to hold people accountable if they are invested in remaining in HF and unlikely to lose interest any time soon. I would ask that present "foals" hold off til next year. We love you. I love you, and I hope you stick around to enjoy this amazing community (theyre so wonderful they volunteer to mail presents to strangers).

Splendid idea!

(I have shipped items across the pond, and it wasn't horrible expensive, in case you wanted to include others, could be specified on questioner if willing to ship overseas)

I think an easier solution would be to have another exchange organized for "the old country" folks. I thought about including that option, but it makes organizing who gets who more complicated and leaves the possibility of the odd person out across the atlantic who there isnt an available santa for. if someone wants to run a separate exchange the "google forms" format is super super easy.

Ive gotten several responses and will send confirmations out tonight. I have it set so that you can edit your response if need be, so if you forgot something or want to add something, you totally can.

@csimkunas6 your kids are too cute. please keep them.

LOL I'm glad people suggested just reading through the form. I have to say, my farrier has taken some VERY interesting things off of my horses' feet. I can't believe you are just blanket rejecting that kind of thing. I also have half a tooth that the vet took out of Teddy last time that makes a really good can opener. Very unique and definitely a conversation starter! I suppose that wouldn't meet your criteria either. Sheesh....
