Q. What does it mean if you find a horseshoe?

A. Some poor horse is walking around in his socks.

Many years ago as a kid our family was someplace watching a blacksmith making horse shoes, a group of people watching.
When finished working with them on an anvil he would toss them on the ground.
Some guy in the crowd reached down, picked one up and quickly threw it back.
Blacksmith said "Was it hot?"
Guy said "no...just doesn't take me long to look at a horse shoe".
