Adequan dosage for smaller equines

For those of you who have smaller equines (minis, mini mules) on Adequan, what dosage did your vet prescribe? My mini mule is getting the full horse dosage (5ml), twice a month, but that still seems high to me.

I've had other vets tell me 3.5ml once a month... so I'm just curious what other vets prescribe. Especially for mules, as I know they can metabolize things differently - which is why this vet put her on such a high dose... but still, she weights less than 250 lbs, so she's getting a super high dosage for her size, and I'm a bit worried about toxicity over time - she's two (arthritis due to an injury) and probably on Adequan for her entire life...

I just saw on the Lil Beginnings forum there is a user (Marsha Cassada) with a mini on Adequan, she may be able to help. That's all I've got though :( I'm sorry

Hmm, I can't answer your question but I've also never considered that you probably would give a smaller dose for a smaller equine. I tried looking on the Adequan site but couldn't find anything.

Of course, I honestly don't think you could "over-dose" Adequan when you think about how much your are really giving a full sized horse when you do the loading dose.

Any particular reason your vet wanted her on it TWICE a month? I know some people that do that ... but not many.
